Privacy Policy

Information we collect
When you create an account we collect your email address, username, favorite team, and any optional profile information you add (such as a bio). If you participate in the community we store the content you submit: board posts and threads, chat messages, coach approval votes, rage taps, pick'em entries, and share activity. If you join through a referral link we record the referral relationship. We also collect basic technical and log data — IP address, browser type, and pages visited — to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
To operate the site: authentication, community features, leaderboards, and referral tracking. To keep the community safe: moderation, rate limiting, and fraud prevention. To improve the product: aggregate analytics about which features are used. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies for authentication sessions, referral attribution (7 days), an hourly activity heartbeat, and admin sessions. We use your browser's localStorage for functional flags only — for example remembering that you've seen the welcome tour or dismissed a banner. We currently run no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.
Third-party processors
We share data only with the service providers required to run the site:
- Supabase — database and authentication (hosted in the United States)
- Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure
- Resend — transactional email (verification and account emails)
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google (OAuth)
- Cloudflare Turnstile — spam prevention, if and when enabled
News headlines and article images displayed on the site load directly from their original publishers.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal data. Update your username, team, and bio anytime in Settings, where you can also delete your account entirely. Deleting your account removes your login and profile, deletes your votes, rage taps, and pick'em entries, and anonymizes your posts and chat messages (the author becomes "[deleted]"; the text remains so conversations stay readable). If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (such as GDPR in the EU or CCPA in California), these same rights — access, correction, deletion, and portability — apply to you, and you can exercise any of them by emailing us.
Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Log data is retained for a short operational window. After account deletion, anonymized content is retained for thread continuity, and referral records lose their link to you.
Children
Coaching Buzz is not directed to children under 13, we require users to be 13 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
